Technical information
- Start of construction: 20 January 1999.
- Official opening: 21 January 2000.
- Multifunctional sports facilities.
- Flexible accommodation for big international championships or events as well as regional events.
- Surface: 120 m x ± 85 m, 20 m high.
- A permanent athletics track with six 200-meter lanes and eight 60-meter lanes.
- Mondo top layer on concrete subsoil. 290-meter warming-up track , consisting of a polyurethane top layer and separated from the competition field.
- Lighting: 1,200 lux.
- 3,539 permanent spectator seats, extendable to more than 5,000 seats.

- Several provisions on the centerfield for electricity, water, telephone and data communication

- The Flanders Sports Arena is connected with the previously built Bloso sports hall (50m x 33m x 9m high), which has 11 changing rooms, 2 saunas (max. 10 persons/sauna), extra rooms for press, judges, ...

- Press block for 59 persons (50 x 4 = 200m²). Each box has two power points and one telephone line
- Cafeteria for 150 persons with the necessary furniture and a bar. Wall plugs for freezers and refrigerators. Connection with the cafeteria in the Bloso sports hall
- Sanitary facilities with special toilets for disabled persons
- Scoreboard: LED scoreboard measuring 7.65 m. x 4.70 m, with 10 lines of 40 characters each

Competition area
The competition area consists of:
- A 200-meter track (6 lanes) with curved edges A centerfield for 60 meters sprints (8 lanes) and 60 meters hurdles
- Provisions for high jump, shot put, long jump, triple jump and pole vault
Open flat area of 47m x 47m (2,150 m²), extendable to 3,000 m². The centerfield can be adjusted to accommodate several indoor sports (handball - tennis - volleyball - basketball - gymnastics)
Additional seats can be placed around the centerfield to ensure a better player-public contact and add to the ambiance.
