Press release: "With regret we announce that the 5th edition of the FieldTurff Tarkett Flanders Soccer Cup will not take place. We did all we could to put together a magnificent playing pitt for this jubilee edition.
Unfortunately however, we did not succeed because of a number of reasons. The most important reasons for not succeeding are: the loss of a number of established values, the big number of 1st class clubs that went
on a training abroad during the winter stop and the calendar reforms in 2nd class. We would like to thank all the clubs, partners, collaborators and supporters who helped make the 4 former editions of
the Flanders Soccer Cup an unforgettable experience. THANKS!!!

Enrolments Mr.T.'s Partena Triathlon Ghent successful
Since last week Saturday people can enrol for the sixth edition of Mr.T.'s Partena Triathlon Ghent on Sunday August 19. Like many other recreational triathlon events, the Ghent organisation benefits of the increasing popularity of the sport the last couple of years.
Organiser and press responsible Wim Van de Putte is very pleased with this evolution: "For an organiser it is important to know that a minimum number of participants will appear at the start. If you want to start in the Ladies Triathlon or Sprinter Triathlon, you have to hurry to enrol,” Says a happy Wim Van de Putte. "For the Just-for-Fun and Team Relay there are still enough places, but this might change in no time once the Ladies- and Sprinter Triathlon are complete. So you better be quick." Three Dutch Master records Roeske (2x) and Wiegman Sunday 18 March, three master records were broken in Ghent. Frank Wiegman (M40) ran the
1000 meter in 2.37,31 and was 0,28 seconds faster than Henri Havinga at the end of 2002. Eric Roeske (M45) was in good shape. He improved two of his own national records:
the 200 meter with 0,31 seconds, bringing his time to 23,25, and he ran the 400 meter in 51,52, 0,41 seconds faster than his former national best. He was only 0,04

The indoor competition season is over, a tribute to all collaborators and volunteers for a beautiful season 2006 - 2007 Quite some important
innovations were realised during this indoor season by the VAL, TimeTronics, PC East-Flanders and Bloso.
Purchase of Field terminals (investment Val). The training session organised by TimeTronics was attended by a lot of operators.
Instalment of a backup camera at the other side of the direction room (PC O.Vl). During this indoor season, not a single official time was missed out.
Possibility to show "best performance" and "reaction time" at the scoreboard. (TimeTronics).
Sound system of the warming up court could be operated separately (investment Bloso)
Purchase of a new PC in the direction room (investment Bloso).
Instalment of separate scoreboards for the Field terminals (sponsoring TimeTronics).
Instalment DVD recorder for long distance events (investment Val) These important innovations together with the efforts of all officials
guaranteed during the whole indoor season a correct and especially fast information stream to the athletes, spectators, trainers, speakers and even to the press via
internet. Special thanks to Etienne De Pelsmaeker for his unremitting initiatives to keep giving the participants a better service.

Records raining during BC indoor masters Nice performances, larded with no less than fourteen national records and one world record: that is
the result of the first (fully fledged) championship indoor. Edith Graff/DAMP-W65 managed to jump at her first attempt triple jump 9m12: a remarkable distance, as in
doing so she broke the world record of the Dutch Rietje Dijkstra, who jumped 8m68 two years ago. Edith Graff also improved the Belgian Record 60m (9"55 = 5th best
world performance ever). Club mate W45 Véronique Du Bois also broke two records: 60mH (9"94) and 60m (8"42). Liliane Fiddelaers/AVT-W45 did the same at
the 400m (62"80) and the 200m (27"56). Hilde Bottin/RCT-W40 improved her Belgian Record for the second time this year in the triple jump (now 10m56), while
Myriam Wéry/DAMP-W45 (high jump, 1m58) failed to improve her national best (1m60) with 1cm. With the men, Koen Lemmens/OLSE-M35 gave a performance that was never seen
before in high jump: after a 13 years break (before that he was affiliated with DCLA and ABES with a personal record of 2m05) he made his comeback. He jumped over 1m90.
"I was surpised myself that I reached that high", he said afterwards. Further records were set by Sven Marien/BRAB-M35 (60mH, 8"67), Jurgen Van
Lent/AVZK-M35 (800m, 2'01"16), Johan Herregodts/KAAG-M50 (400m, 57"41), Piet Claes/RAM-M50 (hoog, 1m68) and Roger Peyskens/ASVO-M60 (200m,
26"76). To crown it all, Frits De Baets/RCG-M45, won the 1500m in 4'13"35, and in doing so, dethroned Marc Truyers (4'13"49).

Kathleen De Caluwé puts an end to her career
Kathleen De Caluwé, a regular customer at the Flanders Sports Arena, put in Ghent an end to her sports career in a remarkable way. She won the Belgian title at the 60 meters.
"I listen to my body and the signals tell me it is time to stop. But I do not completely quit running. I will participate in the Ghent city run on a recreative basis and whenever my club needs me for interclub
competitions, I will probably agree". Says Kathleen.

record of Wim Scholtes of 2004 with 0,23 seconds. Jamile Samuel (Juniors-B) improved the Dutch 60 meters hurdles record in Ghent. Jamile became Dutch champion with a 8,39 performance. In doing so, she improved
her personal record of 8,66 she put down earlier this year. She improved the 8,45 that put Petra Huybregtse since 1988 on top of the ranking list.
The Juniors Leonie Schilder and Denise Groot both jumped a new national record with the pole vault: 3,77 meters.
12/02/07
Two extra Belgian records pentathlon for Juniors Men and Pupils Women

record is put at 3.656 pts. (9"17 (60H) - 1m63 (high jump) - 10m93 (shot put) - 5m53 (long jump) - 2:28"61 (800m)).
12/02/07
Tia Hellebaut puts down several records in pentathlon Ghent Impressive is the word we should use to describe the performance of Tia Hellebaut (AT84). She succeeded to improve almost all her personal records during the pentathlon competition, what brought her

During the pentathlon competition, she jumped a new Belgian long jump record: 6m42, 6cm further than the old record of Sandrine Hennart and herself. She almost put down a best world year performance in the high jump.
At her second attempt to jump over 2m02, the cross-bar remained not long enough at its place to grant her this record.
04/02/07

National record pole vault juniors for Anouk Vercauteren
At the Flanders Championship Juniors, no less then ten new all time top performances were put down. The most
outstanding result was performed by Anouk Vercauteren. The top elite student from Zele improved her national
cadets record from 3m31 to 3m51. "I was not at all surprised with this result. In The Netherlands, in Sittard,
a couple of weeks ago, I already jumped over 3m40. But because there were also boys taking part in that
competition, my performance was not eligible for homologation ... "
Anouk Vercauteren started her career as a successful cross country runner. Two years ago, she won the Belgian
Championship pre-competition for pupils from Zenobie Vangansbeke. "I took part in all possible disciplines
until Peter Moreels convinced me 2 years ago to focus on pole vault. He helped me to enroll in the elite sports
school in September last year. In one year time, I improved my performance with 1m11.
